A message from President Glen Moyston

Glen Moyston

Welcome to the Sherwood Indooroopilly RSL Sub-branch web site. We see our sub-branch as being very much focused on the traditional ideals of the RSL – to deliver service and support to our veterans and their families, especially to the most needy, and to foster remembrance of the sacrifices made to preserve the Australia we have today.

In pursuing these values, we consider it vital that the sub-branch communicates with its members and with the wider community. Or web site is an important part of that communication, together with our strong newsletter program and our program to make phone contact several times each year with our veterans over 70 years of age.

I commend the web site to you. It will provide you with information about coming events and details as to who to contact about various services and events. You will find detail about the many social support programs the sub-branch runs or can ac-cess. These include: the drop in centre, our home maintenance program, our excel-lent library, computer lessons, the bus to Greenslopes hospital and much more. But most important of all, you can find out how to access pensions advice. If you or anyone you know has had any sort of operational service at any time in the past and haven’t had a pension review in the last two years – or have never even applied for a pension – you or they could be missing out. Read on and find out how we can help.

On the site you will find links to many items of interest. Please take advantage of these to see what we are doing in the community. On this centenary year of the Anzac landings we have involved the schools in researching the names of those listed on our memorials. You will find links to some of their work on this website and you will find that they have done a great job in bringing a new focus on the lives and sacrifice of those who gave their all.

Please note that, because the site is hosted in USA, and is normally updated at about midnight, their time, there may be brief periods in the middle of our day that it will not be available. If you encounter this problem, just wait a few minutes and all should be well.
